kavita aapko chunauti deti hai. iska ek bada mahatva yeh hai ki yeh sanskriti ki un gintee ki jagahon mein se ek hai jo cheezon ko aasan nahi banati - yeh aapko sochne, samajhne aur duniya ke baare mein hamari sochi-samjhi maanyataon ko bina soche-samjhe sweekar na karne par majboor karti hai.
Poetry challenges you. Much of its importance is that it's one of the few places left in culture that makes things difficult-it asks you to think, to perceive and not to take for granted what we think about the world.

yeh kavitaayein is duniya mein hone ke ehsaas ko imandaari se samajhne ki meri koshish ka hissa hain.
The poems are part of my attempt to understand being in the world in an honest way.

[unki pehli kavita ka prakashan] shandar tha... lekin isne mujhe shuru mein hi sikh diya ki sabse zaroori cheez agli kavita likhna hai. kavita ka chhapna bas ek khushgawar ittefaq hai.
[The publication of his first poem] was wonderful ... but it taught me early on that the only thing that really matters is writing the next poem. Publication is best seen as a happy accident.

shabd bhi kitne ajeeb maayne rakhte hain. ek shabd bolo aur hawa mein lahar uthti hai jo doosre ke kaanon tak pahunch jaati hai. ek shabd likho aur aankh use pee jaati hai. par uska arth badal jaata hai, aur bola gaya shabd kaan ke bhoolbhulaiya se guzar kar ek aise arth mein dhal jata hai jo ab sirf nervs ka daira nahi rah jata. likha hua shabd aankh ke peeche duniya aur duniya ki tasveer ke roop mein khul jata hai, aur kalpana aisi jagah dekhti hai jise aankh nahi dekh sakti - gahri soch ke sath.
Words are substance strange. Speak one and the air ripples into another's ears. Write one and the eye laps it up. But the sense transmutes, and the spoken word winds through the ear's labyrinth into a sense that is no longer the nerve's realm. The written word unfolds behind the eye into the world, world's image, and the imagination sees as the eye cannot see-thoughtfully.
